Restoring Healthy Little Smiles
Even with excellent preventative care, cavities and dental injuries happen. When they do, Z Pediatric Dentistry is here to restore your child's teeth gently, efficiently, and with as little discomfort as possible.
Dr. Rasheed uses the latest techniques and technology — including Solea laser dentistry — to perform most restorative procedures without shots and without the noise and vibration of a traditional drill. For children who need more support, we offer sedation options to ensure a comfortable, positive experience.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
When a tooth has a cavity, we remove the decay and restore the tooth with a durable, natural-looking composite resin filling. With Solea laser technology, most small-to-medium fillings require no anesthetic injection at all — children simply feel a gentle cooling sensation from the water spray.
Dental Crowns
When a tooth is significantly decayed or damaged, a crown may be needed to protect and preserve it. We use tooth-colored crowns whenever possible to maintain a natural appearance. Stainless steel crowns are an option for back teeth when durability is the primary concern.
Pulp Therapy (Pulpotomy)
When decay reaches the inner pulp of a baby tooth, a pulpotomy (sometimes called a "baby root canal") can save the tooth. Keeping baby teeth in place is important — they hold space for permanent teeth and are crucial for chewing, speech, and confidence.
Space Maintainers
If a baby tooth is lost early due to decay or injury, a space maintainer prevents neighboring teeth from drifting and crowding the space reserved for the permanent tooth.
Tooth Extractions
When a tooth is beyond saving, we perform gentle extractions. Dr. Z takes special care to keep children calm and comfortable, using age-appropriate explanations and, when needed, sedation options.
Why treat baby teeth? Baby teeth are not just placeholders — they play a vital role in chewing, speech development, and guiding permanent teeth into position. Untreated cavities can cause pain, infection, and spacing problems.
