Pediatric Dental Emergency Care

Dental emergencies in children are stressful — we understand that. Whether it's a knocked-out tooth from the playground, a sudden severe toothache, or a dental injury from a fall, Z Pediatric Dentistry is here to help. We work to see emergency patients as promptly as possible.

Call us right away at (832) 321-7151. Our team will guide you through first-aid steps while we prepare to see your child.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

  • Knocked-Out Tooth (Avulsion) — Time is critical. Keep the tooth moist and call us immediately.
  • Severe Toothache — Pain that doesn't resolve may indicate infection or abscess.
  • Chipped or Broken Tooth — We can restore the tooth or protect the nerve with same-day care.
  • Dental Abscess — Swelling, severe pain, or fever can signal a dental infection requiring prompt treatment.
  • Loose or Displaced Tooth — A tooth that has been moved from its position after trauma.
  • Lost Filling or Crown — Exposed teeth can become sensitive and vulnerable to further damage.
  • Soft Tissue Injuries — Cuts or lacerations to gums, lips, or cheeks.

What to Do If a Tooth Gets Knocked Out

  1. Find the tooth — Handle it by the crown (white part), not the root.
  2. Rinse gently — Rinse with water if dirty. Do not scrub or dry.
  3. Keep it moist — Place the tooth back in the socket (if possible), in milk, or between the cheek and gum.
  4. Call us immediately — For permanent teeth, every minute counts. Call (832) 321-7151 right away.

Note: For knocked-out baby teeth, do not attempt to re-implant. Call us and we'll advise you on next steps to protect the permanent tooth developing underneath.
